Interieur by Gina
Meet Gina, an interior stylist with a story as versatile as her style. Gina grew up in Germany, lived in England for many years and settled in the Netherlands 11 years ago, together with her husband, son and daughter. She lives in the cozy Nieuw-Vennep, where she translates her passion for interior design into creative designs every day.
After a career in marketing for ICT companies, Gina decided to change course. More freedom to choose her own projects and work on something that really inspired her was a big wish. So she started an interior design course through the LOI. "I didn't just want to make beautiful things, but also understand how technical aspects of a house work." Three years ago, Gina started her own company and since then she has been helping people turn their house into a home.
Interior with a twist
What makes Gina unique as an interior stylist is her talent for getting clients to step just outside their comfort zone. "Sometimes I hear: 'I don't like green,' and yet I show them how a green hue works in their interior. The best moment is when they say afterwards: 'We would never have thought of this ourselves!'"
Gina's style is a mix of Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, Scandinavian and industrial. At home she has a cast floor, black steel doors and soft natural tones. She prefers a warm, calm atmosphere without harsh colours, so that a home feels like a nice place to relax. Her work goes beyond styling: practical solutions are central. She pays close attention to walking routes, storage spaces and how people use spaces.
"Many people don't know exactly what they want, and that's what I like about it. Discovering together what really suits them, even outside their comfort zone."
Inspiration and favorites
As an interior stylist, Gina gets a lot of inspiration from traveling, interior fairs and social media. During a holiday on Crete, she fell in love with the natural stone and concrete look of the buildings there. These kinds of elements are then happily included in the designs. Gina's favorite projects are large, complete interiors, from the construction drawing to the last accessory.
“It is truly an honor that people trust me completely to design their home.”
Looking for a new sofa for her own living room, Gina came across By SIDDE at the VT Wonen fair and saw exactly what she wanted: modular sofa Finn in the colour Simply Beige. "The light shade, the comfort and the Scandinavian design fit my style perfectly. Furthermore, sustainability is important to me, so the fact that the sofa is produced in Europe is a big plus."
Styling in two atmospheres
In the studio in Eerbeek, Gina styled her two favourite By SIDDE modular sofas: Finn and Vita.
Finn: Slow Living
Gina has styled Finn Scandinavian with soft tones and natural accents, fitting a calm winter atmosphere. The high pile rug brings warmth, while the DIY dried flowers add a personal and handmade element. "I love to create a sense of security with accessories. The branches and pottery complete the picture."
Vita: Natural and Tough
For the Vita, Gina chose a styling that combines softness with tough elements. The warm color of the couch contrasts nicely with black accents, while wooden details and plants give a natural look. The artwork above the couch is a real eye-catcher. It is minimalistic, but still makes a big statement.
Tips from Gina
For those who want to restyle their living room, Gina has an important tip: "Don't be afraid of a big sofa, even in a small space. A big sofa can make a statement. Make sure you leave space behind the sofa, for example for a side table with accessories."
