A colorful interior with Scandinavian influences
A modern interior with color, character, and a statement sofa. Daniëlle shows how you can turn your first home purchase into a personal home. Full of smart choices, a major renovation, and above all: lots of courage when it comes to color.
First home togheter
In August 2025, Daniëlle and her boyfriend received the keys to their first home together. A house from 1994 with potential, but also with work to be done. The worn parquet floor turned out to be laid on top of an orange tile floor. All of this had to be chiseled out by hand, after which underfloor heating was milled in and a new foundation for the ground floor was created. As an interior advisor in a home furnishing store, Daniëlle is familiar with all interior trends, from Scandinavian living to Japandi and modern retro. Every day she sees the most beautiful furniture, paint colors, and home accessories. But choosing for her own interior? That turned out to be quite a challenge.
“When you like everything, choosing suddenly becomes very difficult.”
Color & Scandinavian
The base of the interior is calm, but certainly not safe. Cool tones dominate, yet the space still feels warm and cozy. The style? A mix of Scandinavian interiors, modern shapes, retro details, and antique finds. By working with a strong color palette, the overall look stays balanced. She plays with textures, combines designer furniture with thrifted pieces, and makes sure the living room doesn’t feel like a showroom, but like a real home. Not a run-of-the-mill interior, but a colorful interior with personality.
“You should be able to see who lives there.”
Blue eye-catcher
The favorite spot in the house is the seating area. Here you’ll find the corner sofa Sommer from By SIDDE in Soft Blue, in the XL version. A deliberate choice: Daniëlle already knew By SIDDE from her first job in the interior design world and often recommended the brand to customers. It stuck with her. For their own living room, she wanted a modern sofa with clean lines, plenty of seating comfort, and enough space to lounge together. Not a beige sofa, not a gray couch, but a blue corner sofa that instantly adds atmosphere. The corner sofa makes optimal use of the space and forms the heart of the living room.
“The sofa is the foundation of your seating area, so it should be both comfortable and distinctive.”
Personal & timeless
What makes this interior special are the personal items. Art and objects from travels, designer lighting such as the Parentesi by Flos, plants, fresh tulips in season, and striking vases that make a statement even without flowers. Daniëlle’s advice for anyone decorating a living room or styling a new home: choose color in your interior. Combine interior trends with your own taste. Invest in a good sofa, a beautiful rug, and a well-thought-out lighting plan. And be bold. Because trends change, but a personal interior will always feel right.
“You’re the one who lives there, so let your personality shine.”

The Sommer corner sofa of By SIDDE takes center stage here. No separate elements, just one fixed setup. Comfortable, modern, and instantly an eye-catcher in the living room.
