Looking inside Rianne's detached new-build home
We take a look at Rianne's (@huisopdeterp) attractive new-build home in Zwolle, where she lives with her partner and two daughters. The interior comprises a harmonious mix of Scandinavian design, organic shapes and subtle colour accents.
A new home
After 18 years of happily living in lively Utrecht, Rianne and her family decided to return to Zwolle, looking for a place with more peace and quiet and space. Initially tendering for a new-build project, they soon discovered another detached house that suited their needs even better. An opportunity they couldn't pass up. And so they recently moved into this lovely 2021 home. The wooden floor was already there, providing a nice base. The black kitchen stayed too. With a coat of new paint, carefully chosen furniture and new accessories, the Scandinavian interior was further dressed up.
‘The birds are a nice detail in my Scandinavian interior; they fit perfectly into the environment we live in’
A mix of Scandinavian, organic and colour
Rianne describes her living style as ‘cosy Scandinavian’. In the newly built house, light tones and natural materials are combined with warm colours such as old rose. This combination creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Organic shapes also play an important role in the interior, with corner sofa Nomi as the eye-catcher!
Corner sofa Nomi
After a visit to the showroom in Leerdam, where various options were considered, the choice quickly fell on corner sofa Nomi in the colour Smokey Taupe. The organic, airy shape makes it possible to enjoy the beautiful view to the full and, at the same time, offers enough space for the whole family. Dog Tibbe also likes to lie on the sofa, making this choice a real favourite for everyone! Rug Vava in grey perfectly complements this and adds extra warmth and cosiness to the Scandinavian interior. Together, they form the ideal combination!
‘With a family and a dog, a light sofa that is stain-resistant treated is really a relief’
Favourites
In Rianne's cosy Scandinavian interior, corner sofa Nomi and the dining area are undoubtedly her favourite places. On the sofa she can relax with her family, while the dining table invites laughter with friends and family. A special item is the golden cupboard, which has already endured several moves and gets a new colour each time, coordinated with the interior. Curious about the other favourite items? Interior design tips from Rianne
A tip for creating a Scandinavian interior is to compile mood boards. ‘I personally use Pinterest for this, where I have separate boards for different rooms and so does a board for ‘nice to have’ items. This gives a clear overview of all the rooms and shows what I would still like to buy.’
It is also wise to take paint colours and samples with you when choosing furniture. This makes it easier to see how the colours and materials work together in the room.
